Job summary

REDPATH MINING is seeking an experienced qualified artisan for an underground mining environment in Polokwane. You will maintain mechanical systems, inspect, repair, test and commission equipment, ensuring compliance with MHSA and OEM standards.

The role requires at least 5 years in open cast or trackless underground mining, with strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical skills, plus the ability to read schematics and manage parts stock.

Qualifications

• Matric with N2–N6 or equivalent trade related education.
• Section 13 Trade Test certification is required.
• Competent B driving license and medical fitness for underground work.
• Minimum 5 years in open cast or trackless underground mining as an artisan.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical skills relevant to earth-moving fleets.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, maintain, replace and commissioning of mechanical installations and equipment within your area.
• Ensure MHSA compliance and OEM requirements before operation.
• Respond to breakdowns and coordinate safety procedures.
• Coordinate with supervisors and plant operators to meet deadlines.
• Promote a safe working environment and proper PPE usage.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• At least 5 years’ experience in a open cast or trackless underground mining environment as a qualified artisan.
• Excellent mechanical / auto electrical of earth moving fleet – Sandvik/Epiroc/Normet.
• Excellent hydraulic functionality knowledge with fault finding
• Ability to read and understand schematics
• Risk management experience
• Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety standards
• Understand and participate in ordering parts via manual/internet and assisting store controllers on stock holding
• RCA understanding
• Ownership of maintenance.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Ensure that all TMM machinery and other equipment complies with MHSA & regulations and other OEM requirements before operation.
• Responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, maintaining, replacing and commissioning of all mechanical installations, equipment and machinery within your working area.
• Breakdown response
• Ensure that the production process is carried out in accordance with the legal requirement, work instructions and other functions stipulated in the legal appointment and addendums thereof.
• Ensure appropriate usage of machinery, equipment, tools and materials.
• Assisting the team in carrying out the responsibilities were required.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environment regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicate with site supervisors, batching plant operators, and other team members to coordinate operations and meet project deadlines.
• Promote a healthy and safe working environment.
