Job summary

TWK Agri in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, seeks a Manager: Timber Marketing to lead timber marketing and procurement, securing sustainable timber supply and developing profitable customer markets. The role demands strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and strategic oversight of pricing and contracts.

The incumbent will manage grower and supplier relationships, negotiate procurement and sales agreements, coordinate supply with customer requirements, and drive volume, margin and service targets

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 completed.
• Degree or Diploma in Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Business Management, or Supply Chain Management.
• Postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• 5-8 years’ experience in forestry, timber or related industries.
• Minimum 5 years’ managerial or leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of timber supply chains and market dynamics.
• Experience negotiating commercial agreements and supplier arrangements.
• Willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement timber procurement and sales strategies to achieve supply volumes, sales targets and margins.
• Secure sustainable timber supply through relationships with growers and suppliers.
• Negotiate timber procurement and customer sales agreements including pricing and terms.
• Monitor timber market trends and industry developments.
• Identify new procurement opportunities and business growth opportunities.
• Manage procurement programmes to meet supply requirements efficiently.
• Collaborate with logistics to optimise sourcing, planning and delivery.
• Match timber species and quality to customer requirements and coordinate deliveries.
• Monitor supply performance and resolve challenges proactively.
• Assist in timber resource management and sustainability initiatives.
• Prepare procurement, supply and market reports for management.
• Monitor costs and margins against budgets; ensure compliance with policies and certifications.
• Represent TWK Agri at events and engagements; lead continuous improvement.
• Contribute to strategic planning and development within the Timber Division.
• Lead, develop and manage the timber marketing team.
