Job summary

H&S Labour Brokers in Gauteng seeks 57 experienced TIG/MIG Welders for a contract role in Alrode, Alberton. You will weld 3 inch stainless steel pipes, purge with argon, and ensure high-quality results in food, brewery, dairy, pharmaceutical, chemical, and power environments.

The position requires trade-test qualification, proven TIG welding on stainless pipes, and ability to work safely under site rules. Oxy-acetylene cutting torch experience is also expected.

Job description

We are recruiting 57 experienced TIG Welders on contract for our client based in Alrode, Alberton.

BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION

• TIG welding of 3 inch (approx. 89 mm outside diameter) stainless steel pipes.
• Producing clean, strong, high-quality welds to the standard required in food, brewery, dairy, pharmaceutical, chemical and power station environments.
• Purging the inside of the pipe with argon gas to protect the weld root from burning and oxidation.
• Working accurately and to the required quality standards, in line with site health and safety rules.

REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Completed and passed trade test (qualified welder) proof of trade test certificate required.
• Proven experience in TIG welding on stainless steel pipes general welding experience alone is not sufficient.
• Practical experience with argon back purging on stainless steel pipes.
• Pipe welding experience is essential candidates with only flat plate, sheet metal or general fabrication experience will not be considered.

PRACTICAL WELDING TEST

Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical TIG welding test on 3 inch stainless steel pipe. The test piece will be cut open and inspected, including the inside of the weld.

Employment Details Work Location: JHB - Eastern Suburbs, Gauteng
Hourly Rate: R45.00 per hour
Availability: Must be available to start as required.
