Placements24 is seeking a skilled Welding and Fabrication Specialist for their Vereeniging workshop. The role requires hands-on expertise with MIG, TIG and Stick welding, plus the ability to read blueprints and fabricate metal structures to exact specifications.

You will work on a range of metals in a production setting, maintain equipment, follow safety procedures, and contribute to quality control and on-time delivery of fabrication projects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience and certification as a qualified Welder and Fabricator.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial welding and fabrication.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG and Stick welding processes.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
• Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG, TIG, Stick welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications to plan tasks.
• Cut, shape and assemble metal components using hand and power tools.
• Ensure welds meet structural standards and visual quality requirements.
• Operate fabricating machinery such as bends, shears and presses.
• Conduct quality checks and correct defects in finished products.

About the Role

Our client, a busy fabrication workshop serving the industrial and construction sectors, is seeking a skilled Welding and Fabrication Specialist for their facility in Vereeniging, Gauteng. This role requires a high level of proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to interpret blueprints to fabricate and assemble metal structures and components. You will be responsible for producing quality work that meets precise specifications, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic finish. This is a hands-on position focused on delivering exceptional craftsmanship in a production environment. The successful candidate will be adept at working with a range of metals and materials, contributing to the creation of custom and standard fabricated items.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform various types of welding, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and potentially others, on different types of metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminum).
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications to plan and execute welding and assembly tasks.
• Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using hand and power tools.
• Ensure welds are structurally sound, meet required standards, and are visually acceptable.
• Operate fabricating machinery such as bending machines, shears, and presses.
• Perform quality checks on finished products, identifying and correcting any defects.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working order and used safely.
• Follow all safety guidelines and workshop procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Assist with material handling and inventory management as required.
• Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the Vereeniging workshop.
