Job summary

Samancor Chrome Ltd. in South Africa seeks aMaintenance Supervisor to oversee safe and cost-effective maintenance of auxiliary plant, equipment, facilities and plant shutdowns.

You will ensure high-quality workmanship by artisans and contractors, and drive SHEQ compliance across the team. The role requires 4 years’ relevant experience with supervisory exposure, a certified maintenance trade qualification, and proficiency with SAP PM/HR modules.

Qualifications

• N6 or equivalent certificate in maintenance field.
• 4 years’ relevant maintenance experience, preferably 1-year supervisory experience.
• Relevant trade certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise safe, cost-effective maintenance of auxiliary plant, equipment and facilities and shutdown work.
• Ensure SHEQ compliance within the team through effective use of the toolbox.
• Coordinate contractor activities on site and manage scheduling of unplanned work.
• Review task lists and provide resource information for plan review.

To supervise the safe and cost-effective execution of all maintenance of auxiliary plant, equipment & facilities and shutdown work ensuring high-quality workmanship of artisans and contractors.

Purpose Of the Job

To supervise the safe and cost-effective execution of all maintenance of auxiliary plant, equipment & facilities and shutdown work ensuring high-quality workmanship of artisans and contractors.

Job Responsibilities

• Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Ensure SHEQ compliance within the Team through effective use of the Toolbox
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status

PEOPLE

Supervise The Team

• Ensure an enabling climate/culture
• Maintain labour stability by minimising labour turnover
• Labour complement in line with budget
• Manage performance against set targets and competencies
• Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
• Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
• Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
• Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
• Conduct recruitment interviews

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction
• Mobilise resources to attend to plant stoppages as quickly and safely as possible
• Provide constant feedback to the plant production personnel w.r.t. the progress of any maintenance work on the plant
• Align the maintenance effort with plant production priorities

Schedule Preparation

• Assess notification details and scope of work
• Review Bill of Quantities
• Prioritise Jobs / Forward Workload
• Provide Resource Availability to the Maintenance Practitioner (Planning)

Work Execution

• Reallocate resources and postpone jobs if necessary
• Manage materials if work order is postponed
• Ensure quality of work completed
• Check confirmations
• SAP PM and SAP HR System work
• Perform standby duties
• Work overtime as and when required

Work Analysis

• Monitor and ensure strict adherence to maintenance KPIs (percent planned work, adherence to schedule, number of breakdowns, number of proactive requests)

Contractor Management

• Optimise manning plan through internal or contractor artisans
• Create SES for unplanned work
• Manage and supervise contractor activities on site
• Physically accept and document acceptance of work
• Record contractor non-conformance
• Sign invoice, timesheet or pro-forma

Rotables Management

• Identify and motivate critical spares in area of responsibility.
• Decide whether item can be repaired based on initial visual inspection
• Complete all fields on the "Damage" tag on return item to Rotables store
• TECO original PM01 order and complete notification

Experience

• N6 Certificate for external candidates
• Completed N4 for internal candidates only
• 4 Years’ relevant experience, preferably 1-year supervisory experience
• Relevant Trade Certificate
