Job summary

Bright Purple is recruiting two Senior Automation Engineers for a contract starting this month in Liverpool. You will design, build and maintain test automation frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript, and work closely with stakeholders to raise quality across the team.

The role is hands-on with client interaction, offering an on-site presence Tue–Thu in Liverpool and a competitive daily rate. Initial duration is 3 months with a view to extend by a further 6 months.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Automation Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong hands-on skills in Playwright and TypeScript.
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Build robust, scalable and maintainable automation frameworks.
• Collaborate with developers, BAs and product owners to embed quality from the start.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Communicate progress, risks and recommendations clearly with client stakeholders.
• Mentor and support other team members on automation best practices.

Senior Automation Engineer - Contract

Liverpool / Hybrid

Bright Purple is working with a client in Liverpool to find two Senior Automation Engineers for a contract starting this month. It's a chance to join a collaborative delivery team where you'll have a real say in the quality and test automation approach.

Location: Liverpool, onsite Tuesday to Thursday
Rate: £325 - £350 per day - Statement of Work
Start date: 12 October 2026
Duration: 3 months initially, with a view to extend by a further 6 months

The role

You'll design, build and maintain test automation frameworks with Playwright and TypeScript. The work is hands-on, but you'll also be client-facing: you'll work closely with stakeholders, explain your approach and help raise the quality bar across the team.

What you'll be doing

• Designing, building and improving automated test suites using Playwright and TypeScript
• Building robust, scalable and maintainable automation frameworks
• Working with developers, BAs and product owners to make sure quality is built in from the start
• Fitting automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Sharing progress, risks and recommendations clearly with client stakeholders
• Mentoring and supporting other team members on automation best practice

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Senior Automation Engineer or in a similar role
• Strong hands-on skills in Playwright and TypeScript
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients
• A collaborative, proactive approach and a good fit with the client's people-focused culture
• Insurance sector experience would be a real advantage, but isn't essential
