Job summary

Jobtailor in Cape Town is seeking a Finance Analyst to support the Technology Finance function with data capture, consolidation and report building. You will collaborate with delivery managers and technology stakeholders to capture time spent on business initiatives and ensure inputs are timely and accurate for financial tracking.

The role focuses on capitalisation readiness, variance analysis, and automated month-end project reporting, as well as budgeting and forecasting cycles for technology

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related quantitative discipline.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in corporate finance, project accounting or data analytics.
• Baseline understanding of asset capitalisation concepts.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate large datasets.
• Experience connecting data, writing formulas and designing clean visual presentations in BI software.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (MSD) is desirable.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to partner with and challenge non‑finance stakeholders to secure accurate information.
• Strong communication skills and ability to turn financial data into clear business insight.

Responsibilities

• Support the Technology Finance function by managing data capture, consolidation and report building.
• Collaborate with delivery managers and technology stakeholders to capture time spent on business initiatives.
• Ensure inputs are submitted on time, accurate, and suitable for financial tracking.
• Support identification of activities qualifying for financial capitalisation.
• Validate operational inputs against corporate governance rules.
• Transform time-tracking data into structured data models for cost tracking.
• Enable allocation of technology costs and internal labour assets across projects.
• Create and maintain interactive financial dashboards and visual reporting tools.
• Produce reports on spending trends, project status, budget variances, and actual technology expenditure.
• Monitor technology expenditure against approved budgets and commitment logs.
• Perform variance analysis and support corrective action discussions.
• Automate month-end project reporting and support project forecasts and reporting controls.
• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles for technology projects.
• Maintain monthly actuals, targets, and latest forecasts.
• Produce reconciled time-tracking and cost-allocation datasets.
• Maintain allocation models for distributing technology expenses and booking capitalised assets.
• Deliver automated visual reporting packages and forward‑looking project forecasts
