Job summary

Capital H Staffing and Advisory Solutions is seeking a Senior Data Analyst in Stellenbosch to drive data-informed decisions within a fintech environment. You will analyse SQL Server data, develop documentation, and translate business needs into scalable data solutions.

The role requires 8–10 years of experience, strong SQL, and the ability to build Excel reports and dashboards. Power BI and Python exposure are a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant quantitative field.
• 8–10 years of experience in a similar data analysis role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL with a proven track record of query optimisation.
• Experience in documenting data architectures, models, and dictionaries.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain Excel reports and dashboards.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to liaise effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and maintain understanding of SQL Server data environment, including data structures and flows.
• Develop and update comprehensive data documentation, such as data dictionaries.
• Translate complex business reporting needs into effective data solutions.
• Write and optimise SQL queries to extract and analyse data efficiently.
• Build and maintain Excel-based reports and interactive dashboards.
• Conduct ad hoc analyses to support strategic business decisions.
• Identify opportunities for improving data structures and system performance.
• Support testing, validation, and quality assurance processes related to data.
• Collaborate with business users and technical teams to resolve data and reporting queries.
• Undertake additional tasks as required to support the organisation's data initiatives.
