Job description

Flender South Africa is seeking a Mechanical Draughtsperson to join our engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Drawing Preparation & Accuracy: create accurate and detailed drawings for repair and service procedures, assembly drawings, and bill of materials.
• Calculate gear parameters such as module, pitch, pressure angle, gear ratios, tooth strength, contact stress, and load distribution to ensure optimal performance and durability.
• Measure or calculate detail of geared components for manufacture and foundation loadings of drive packs.
• Ensure that all outputs from the Drawing Department conform to required technical standards and specifications.
• Re‑engineer gearbox components.
• Collaborate with repair technicians and engineers to interpret drawings and specifications for repair processes.
• Revise drawings as necessary based on real‑time feedback from the repair process.
• Review drawings for accuracy according to customer specifications, requirements and technical standards.

Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering Diploma or degree.
• A certificate in Mechanical Drafting is an advantage.
• 2‑5 years working in a mechanical production environment (Industrial Gears an advantage).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD 3D and 2D, Solid Edge, MS Office.
• Good understanding of conveyor belt drives and couplings preferred.
• Excellent technical communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and mathematical abilities.
• Ability to work within strict deadlines.
