Job summary

Investec is seeking a Technical Product Owner to lead the Account Services Platform for core banking capabilities in the UK. You will define the product vision, own the end-to-end lifecycle, and drive API-first modernization while collaborating with Engineering, Risk, Finance, and Commercial Banking to deliver measurable business value.

You will establish a value-driven backlog, monitor KPIs/OKRs, and lead governance across delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Product Management or Product Ownership within the Financial Services or Banking sector.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale core banking or transactional banking transformation initiatives.
• Strong understanding of core banking platforms, APIs, event-driven architecture, microservices, integration patterns, and modern technology platforms.
• Experience defining product strategy, managing product roadmaps, and delivering measurable business value.
• Strong Business Analysis capability, including business process modelling, data modelling, API specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI), and requirements management.
• Experience delivering technology change within highly regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of Agile product delivery, product lifecycle management, DevSecOps, and continuous delivery practices.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex dependencies within a matrix organisation.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in using AI-enabled productivity tools, such as Copilot, to improve efficiency, generate insight and support decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Define, own, and communicate the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and measurable outcomes aligned with the Bank's strategic objectives.
• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from discovery and prioritisation through delivery, adoption, and continual optimisation.
• Establish and manage a value-driven product backlog, balancing customer value, commercial priorities, regulatory requirements, operational resilience, and technical debt.
• Translate business strategy into product capabilities by working closely with Engineering, Architecture, Operations, Risk, Finance, and Commercial Banking.
• Lead Agile planning and product governance activities to ensure alignment across delivery teams and strategic initiatives.
• Define and monitor product success through KPIs, OKRs, customer insights, and delivery metrics, using data to inform product decisions and investment priorities.
• Drive platform modernisation by supporting API-first, event-driven, and cloud-native product capabilities.
• Identify and manage strategic risks, dependencies, and delivery impediments to ensure successful business outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and third-party technology vendors to influence product direction and investment decisions.
• Lead organisational change by communicating product strategy, supporting business readiness, and driving successful adoption of new capabilities.
• Coach and mentor Product Owners and Business Analysts, promoting product management best practices and continuous capability development.
