Job summary

Chainlink Recruitment is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Technical Junior Cost Accountant to join our finance and operations team in Cape Town. This role involves working with numbers and operational analysis in a fast-paced production environment, where you will be responsible for product costing, financial reporting, and supporting budgeting processes.

The ideal candidate will have a Diploma or Degree in Cost & Management Accounting and experience in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or technical environment advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with product costing and margin analysis.
• Monitor raw material, labour, and production costs.
• Support monthly stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
• Analyse variances between actual and standard costs.
• Prepare costing reports and operational financial analysis.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Maintain BOMs and costing databases.
• Work closely with production, procurement, and finance departments.
• Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
• Assist with month-end reporting and audit requirements.

Technical Junior Cost Accountant

Location: Airport City, Cape Town

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with product costing and margin analysis
• Monitor raw material, labour, and production costs
• Support monthly stock counts and inventory reconciliations
• Analyse variances between actual and standard costs
• Prepare costing reports and operational financial analysis
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
• Maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) and costing databases
• Work closely with production, procurement, and finance departments
• Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
• Assist with month-end reporting and audit requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Cost & Management Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1–2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or technical environment advantageous
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Knowledge of ERP systems and inventory control advantageous
• Knowledge of Pastel Evolution Package
• Good attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and within a team
