SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town seeks a Junior Cost Accountant to join the Finance team at Head Office in Epping. You will support cost reporting, data analysis and cost allocation across primary and secondary cost centres.

The role is permanent and based at the Head Office with standard hours and potential overtime. The ideal candidate holds a National Diploma in Cost Accounting, has costing experience, strong Excel skills, and is able to work with multiple cost systems.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Cost Accounting majoring in Costing.
• Experience in a costing environment is essential.
• Knowledge of AccPac, TM1 Cognos and Fraxion is advantageous.
• Advanced computer literacy – MS Office, highly proficient in MS Excel.
• Manufacturing and/or logistics background advantageous.
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure; strong attention to detail.
• Clear credit and criminal clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an integrated costing system and report with primary and secondary cost centres.
• Review data accumulation systems and controls within the costing system.
• Analyse expenses and allocate to correct cost centres.
• Report variances and causes, focusing on spending variances.
• Provide reports and explanations to line management.
• Review overhead costs for correct allocation and reporting.
• Produce operational costing calculations – transport job costing and tender costing.
• Produce profitability calculations for manufacturing divisions.
• Track capital project costs.

JUNIOR COST ACCOUNTANT – CAPE TOWN

Job Description

SA Metal is a large privately-owned metal recycling company with its headquarters in Cape Town and operations in the Western Cape and Gauteng. The Group has a vacancy for an analytical, hardworking and dynamic individual to join the Finance team as a Junior Cost Accountant. The successful candidate will report directly to the Cost Accountant and be based at our Head Office in Epping, Cape Town.

Duties And Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Maintain an integrated costing system / report with specified primary and secondary cost
• centres
• Review and maintain data accumulation systems and controls needed for the cost accounting
• system and reporting within an accounting framework on a monthly basis
• Analysis of expenses and ensure allocation to correct primary and secondary cost centres
• Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances
• Provide reports and explanations to line management
• Reviewing overhead costs to ensure correct allocation and reporting
• Produce operational costing calculations – i.e. transport job costing and tender costing
• Produce profitability calculation for manufacturing divisions
• Capital project cost tracking

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

• National Diploma in Cost Accounting majoring in Costing
• Previous experience in a Costing environment is essential
• Knowledge and/or experience working on AccPac, TM1 Cognos and Fraxion advantageous
• Advanced computer literacy – MS Office, high proficiency in MS Excel
• Manufacturing and/or Logistic background advantageous
