Job summary

AES Global is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to join the product team. The role focuses on developing AI and ML solutions, including a recommendation engine, with strong SQL data skills and product-thinking.

You will translate analyses into development-ready specs and work with cross-functional teams in a hybrid model from Cape Town or Johannesburg.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a Technical Business Analyst, Data Product Owner or Data Analyst.
• Proficiency in complex SQL (CTEs, window functions, joins) to extract insight from relational databases.
• Independent data analysis and root-cause analysis across systems.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum or Kanban.
• Google BigQuery experience.
• Strong grasp of probability, hypothesis testing and exploratory data analysis (EDA).
• Experience implementing (or strong interest in) machine learning / AI in systems.
• Undergraduate degree in Information Systems, Statistics or Computer Science

The role covers projects focused on developing and implementing AI and machine-learning solutions on the organisation’s platform, including a recommendation engine.
