Job summary

Parvana is seeking a seasoned Business Analyst to join a fast-paced AI/R&D focused team in Cape Town. You will bridge business stakeholders with Data Scientists and Data Engineers to translate complex data requirements into actionable specifications.

You will craft wireframes, dashboards, and KPIs while ensuring data quality and alignment with strategic goals. The role supports hybrid work with remote options, offering exposure to global teams and cutting-edge AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification would be ideal in CS, data analytics, or related field.
• Experience with data analytics, AI/ML and lifecycle of data projects from ingestion to visualization.
• Proficiency in eliciting requirements and documenting them clearly.
• Experience with wireframing and mockups tools to communicate UX and data visualization concepts.
• Excellent communication skills to explain data concepts to non-technical executives.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, Data Scientists, and Data Engineers to align builds with business goals.
• Lead gathering and validation of complex requirements for data-driven apps, analytics dashboards, and AI/ML deployment.
• Produce high-quality documentation: specs, user stories, STTM, etc.
• Create detailed wireframes and mockups to visualize data interfaces and reporting tools for stakeholder feedback.
• Interpret data trends, assess data quality, and define KPIs for AI initiatives.

This team is dynamic, fast paced and dedicated to R&D and innovation. That is the team you will be working with, the focus for this specific role is Business Analysis. They are looking for an excellent communicator who can liaise with senior business stakeholders. They would love to see Analytics and Reporting experience. Requirements elicitation and experience using wireframes and mockups would seal the offer but isn’t essential, just a nice to have. This role is initially a long contract position but in our experience with this client, their roles have always evolved to permanent because the contractor loves the work and because it is such a fast growing business, there is always a need. This is a super smart and highly innovative team, you will have the opportunity to learn as well as add value. What you will be doing:

• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, Data Scientists, and Data Engineers to ensure technical builds align with strategic business goals.
• Lead the gathering and validation of complex requirements specifically for data-driven applications, analytics dashboards, and AI/ML model deployment.
• Produce high-quality documentation including functional and non-functional specifications, User Stories, and Source-to-Target Mappings (STTM).
• Create detailed wireframes and mockups to visualize data interfaces and reporting tools, facilitating early stakeholder feedback and alignment.
• Utilise strong analytical capabilities to interpret data trends, assess data quality, and define KPIs that quantify the success of AI initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to optimise data workflows and integration points across the organisation.

What our client is looking for:

• A relevant tertiary qualification would be ideal (Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Information Systems, etc.)
• A proven background in Data Analytics, Machine Learning (ML) would be fab but isn’t essential, and AI. You should understand the lifecycle of a data project, from ingestion to visualisation.
• Proficiency in requirements elicitation techniques and the ability to produce comprehensive documentation.
• Experience with wireframing and mockup tools (e.g., Figma, Balsamiq, or Miro) to communicate user experience and data visualisation concepts.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex "Data Lake" or AI concepts to non-technical executives.
