Job summary

Capitec Bank Limited is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to help translate complex business needs into clear technical requirements and practical solutions. You will collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams and engineers to unpack requirements and shape end-to-end solutions.

Qualifications

• A degree in an IT-related field or Business
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Analysis
• 5+ years of Business Analysis experience, ideally in a tech environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• A natural curiosity and willingness to ask the right questions
• Ability to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and specifications
• Understanding of APIs, microservices and system integrations
• Strong facilitation skills, and confidence engaging both business and technical stakeholders
• Ability to work across multiple teams and complex solutions
• Clear credit and Criminal record

Responsibilities

• Work with business, UX and technical teams, running workshops to understand needs
• Design future-state processes and system flows showing connections across teams
• Write technical requirements and specifications including integration, API and data needs
• Turn requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to assess solution options and impact
• Map data flows and define data needs including source-to-target mappings
• Refine and prioritise the product backlog with the Product Owner
• Support SIT and UAT testing to ensure alignment with business and tech needs

What you'll be doing

We’re looking for a Technical Business Analyst who enjoys solving problems and turning complexity into simple, practical solutions.

You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, product teams and engineers to unpack requirements and help shape solutions. We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious, comfortable getting into the detail and willing to probe, challenge and understand rather than simply document what they’re told. You’ll work across different products and domains, so being able to connect the dots and make sense of complex information is key.

Day to day

• Work closely with business, UX and technical teams, and run workshops to understand needs, current processes and pain points
• Design future-state processes and system flows, showing how they connect across teams and platforms
• Write technical requirements and specifications, including integration, API and data requirements
• Turn requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Work with engineers and architects to assess solution options and their impact across systems
• Map data flows and define data needs, including source-to-target mappings where required
• Work with the Product Owner to refine and prioritise the backlog
• Support testing (SIT and UAT) and make sure what’s delivered meets both business and technical requirements

What you'll bring

• A degree in an IT-related field, Industrial Engineering or Business
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Analysis
• 5+ years’ Business Analysis experience, ideally in a tech environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• A natural curiosity and willingness to ask the right questions
• Ability to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and specifications
• An understanding of APIs, microservices and system integrations
• Strong facilitation skills, and confidence engaging both business and technical stakeholders
• Ability to work across multiple teams and complex solutions
• Clear credit and Criminal record

It would be great if you also have

• Experience within payments, fintech, card acceptance or acquiring
• Experience with merchants, SMEs or the informal market
• Business Analysis certification
• Experience with AWS or knowledge of technologies such as Postgres, Java or Kafka
• Exposure to data, databases, SQL or scripting

Where you'll work

This opportunity is based in Stellenbosch, with three days a week in the office. You’ll therefore need to be based locally or be willing to relocate.
