Job summary

Joint Medical Holdings is seeking a maintenance technician to provide technical, maintenance, and administrative support for hospital infrastructure and equipment. You will perform routine inspections, assist with preventive and reactive maintenance, and help ensure reliable operation of critical systems across theatres, wards, ICU, and emergency units.

The role requires an N6 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification, Matric, and at least 1 year of healthcare facilities experience.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate is required.
• N6 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification is essential.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare facilities environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide technical, maintenance, and administrative support by ensuring that equipment, systems, and assets are effectively maintained, monitored, and managed to support efficient departmental operations and service delivery.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Conduct routine inspections of plant rooms and hospital technical infrastructure.
• Assist with preventative and reactive maintenance, including breakdown response.
• Monitor and support generators, UPS systems, HVAC, pumps, water systems, medical gases, lifts, and related equipment.
• Perform basic fault finding and escalate complex technical issues where required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, and service reports.
• Assist with asset management, inventory control, and equipment tracking.
• Coordinate and monitor contractors working on site.
• Follow up on outstanding maintenance work and verify completed repairs.
• Assist with minor projects, installations, and renovations.
• Provide technical support to theatres, ICU, wards, emergency units, and other critical hospital areas.
• Ensure compliance with hospital health, safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
• N6 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification (essential).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare facilities environment.
• Basic knowledge of hospital engineering systems and maintenance practices will be advantageous.
