Job summary

Ikwezi Mining invites applications for the Team Leader (Packaging Plant) position based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, ZA. The role coordinates Packing Plant operations, supervises staffing, and ensures production targets are met while maintaining high housekeeping and safety standards.

You will generate reports, manage shift activities, and assist with maintenance and breakdowns, driving discipline and efficient workflow in Lines 1 and 2.

Qualifications

• Senior Certificate.
• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in manufacturing, preferably cement.
• Experience with fabricating, fitting and assembling mechanical systems is an advantage.

Job description

Role Purpose:

Responsible for coordinating Packing Plant operations, ensuring production targets are achieved, manpower is effectively utilised, and work areas are maintained to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities

Health & Safety:

• Compliance with all EH&S guidelines and procedures.

Key Tasks:

• Supervise manpower-related planning.
• Production output target: 350 pallets per shift.
• Supervise Packing Plant operations.
• Generate hourly and shift reports.
• Ensure spotless housekeeping and cleaning in Packing Plant Lines 1 & 2 at the end of each shift.
• Submit reports after every shift.
• Oversee Bulk Bag operations.
• Maintain discipline in Packing Plant Lines 1 & 2.
• Minimise spillages and perform RCA where required.
• Coordinate and allocate duties to department staff to ensure effective operations.
• Ensure the department meets production targets.
• Conduct routine checks of all areas to ensure they are neat and orderly.
• Assist with breakdowns and maintenance.

Other

• Perform any other related duties in the interest of CEMZA as instructed.
• Work according to Integrated Environmental and Quality Management System requirements.
• Work according to instructions and procedures pertaining to the assigned operational function.
• Abide by all applicable legal requirements, company policies, and practices.

Qualification & Experience

• Senior Certificate.
• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in manufacturing, preferably in the cement industry.
• Experience in fabricating, fitting, and assembling structural components of mechanical systems, as well as maintaining and repairing machinery, will be an advantage.
