Africa Health Research Institute NPC is seeking a Research Assistant to join our TB-focused team. The role involves handling clinical samples in a BSL-2/BSL-3 setting, performing experiments, data verification, and quality control under supervision.

You will contribute to ensure timely progress updates and maintain rigorous laboratory practices. The position requires an honours or masters in a related field, with 1–2 years TB lab experience and strong computer skills.

Formación

• Honours or Masters in Medical microbiology, Biomedical sciences, Molecular biology, or equivalent in related field.
• 1–2 years TB routine diagnostics and laboratory research experience.
• SL2/BSL3 TB laboratory experience advantageous; strong computer literacy.

Responsabilidades

• Work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team focusing on tuberculosis research.
• Assist senior researcher with experiments, data verification and quality control.
• Process clinical samples in a BSL-2/BSL-3 facility and perform basic assays.
• Maintain reagents, stocks, and general laboratory housekeeping and safety.
• Prepare media, stain slides, subculture mycobacteria, and perform DST assays.
• Document designs and results, and provide progress reports weekly/monthly.
• Participate in research updates, journal clubs, and laboratory meetings.
