Job description

Who we are:

Mama Money is a growth-stage fintech on a mission to improve the financial lives of migrants and underserved communities across Africa and beyond. What started in 2015 as a cross-border payments service has grown into a multi-product financial platform. We give people the tools to send, save, and manage money — on their own terms, at a socially fair price.

Mama HQ is in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. We're 153 people strong (and counting), representing 19 countries across Africa, Asia, the UK, and Europe. From remittances to a growing range of financial products, everything we build is in service of people who deserve better. Our culture reflects that same commitment. We look after our team the way we want them to look after our customers. "Just be lekker!" means we trust our talented, diverse people to do what's right and make it happen — simply and with heart.

We've earned a few accolades, built lasting partnerships, and grown our reach in ways we're proud of. We've had good times and tough times, but our focus has never shifted. People over profit, always.

As an Talent Acquisition Specialist (6-month contract), you will play a key role in supporting Mama Money’s recruitment efforts across the business. You will partner closely with hiring managers, engage with candidates, coordinate interviews, and help deliver a seamless and positive hiring experience from initial outreach through to offer stage.

  • Support end-to-end recruitment processes across multiple business functions, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and high-quality hiring experience.

  • Source and engage high-quality candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, networking, and proactive outreach.

  • Screen CVs and conduct initial candidate assessments to identify talent aligned with role requirements and Mama Money’s values.

  • Schedule and coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring teams, ensuring a seamless and professional process.

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with candidates throughout the recruitment journey, providing timely updates and feedback.

  • Assist with drafting, posting, and managing job advertisements across multiple platforms.

  • Build and maintain strong talent pipelines for both current and future hiring needs.

  • Deliver a consistently positive candidate experience while acting as an ambassador for the Mama Money employer brand.

  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand role requirements, hiring priorities, and workforce planning needs.

  • Support reference checks and other pre-employment verification activities where required.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring strong data integrity.

  • Ensure recruitment processes are compliant, structured, and well documented.

  • Contribute to recruitment projects, employer branding initiatives, campus engagement activities, and talent events that strengthen Mama Money’s talent attraction strategy.

  • 1–3 years' experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, HR, or a related field.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Comfortable engaging with candidates and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.

  • Experience recruiting for technology, product, operations, finance, or customer-facing roles.

  • Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter and Applicant Tracking Systems.

  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers and key stakeholders across the business to understand current and future hiring needs, while becoming a trusted recruitment partner.

  • Gain a deep understanding of Mama Money's employer brand, culture, and value proposition, identifying opportunities to attract and engage top talent.

  • Review and optimise recruitment processes, candidate experience touchpoints, sourcing channels, and recruitment administration to improve efficiency and hiring outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain talent pipelines for critical and future roles through proactive sourcing, networking, and talent mapping.

  • Establish recruitment reporting and tracking metrics, providing regular insights on hiring progress, pipeline health, time-to-hire, and candidate experience.
