Placements24 is seeking a Substation Engineer to join our Randburg team, focusing on design, construction, and maintenance of high-voltage substations essential to the energy grid. You will participate in all project phases from concept to commissioning and lifecycle management.

You will apply power system engineering principles, protection schemes, and HV equipment knowledge to ensure reliable operation and safe project delivery in Randburg and surrounding regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in substation engineering and design.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer high-voltage substations with SLDs, layouts, and equipment specs.
• Develop protection and control schemes for transformers, switchgear, and busbars.
• Review vendor designs and technical submittals for substation equipment.
• Oversee substation construction activities and coordinate commissioning/testing.
• Conduct site visits for inspections, troubleshooting, and project support.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Substation Engineer to join their team in Randburg , contributing to the design, construction, and maintenance of high-voltage electrical substations critical to the energy infrastructure . You will be involved in all phases of substation projects, from conceptual design and detailed engineering to commissioning and lifecycle management. This role requires a deep understanding of power system engineering principles, protection schemes, and equipment used in substations. You will ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the power grid, supporting the energy needs of the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer high-voltage substations, including single-line diagrams, layouts, and equipment specifications.
• Develop protection and control schemes for various substation components (transformers, circuit breakers, busbars).
• Review and approve vendor designs and technical submittals for substation equipment.
• Oversee substation construction activities and coordinate commissioning and testing procedures.
• Conduct site visits for inspections, troubleshooting, and project support.
• Ensure compliance with national and international power system standards and safety regulations.

Requirements
