Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Substation Design Engineer to join our remote engineering team. You will design and develop electrical substations, ensuring safe, reliable transmission and distribution of power while collaborating with project managers, field engineers, and clients from a home-based office.

You will create detailed designs, CAD drawings, and protection schemes for high‑voltage substations, participate in site assessments, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Substation Design Engineer to join their remote engineering team. In this position, you will be responsible for the design and development of electrical substations, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient transmission and distribution of power. You will work from home, collaborating with project managers, field engineers, and clients to translate project requirements into comprehensive engineering designs. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs for high-voltage electrical substations, including layout, equipment specification, and protection schemes.
• Prepare single-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings using CAD software.
• Specify and select electrical equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protective relays.
• Conduct site assessments and provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards, codes, and security regulations for electrical infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design, with a strong understanding of high-voltage equipment and systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar electrical design and analysis software.
• Knowledge of power system protection and control principles.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team setting.
