Placements24 is seeking a qualified Substance Abuse Counselor to support individuals in Upington, Northern Cape. The position combines in-person client sessions with remote administrative duties in a hybrid model.

You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and lead individual and group therapy to support recovery. Travel to local sessions will be required as needed, with emphasis on confidentiality and ethical practice.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in substance abuse counseling or addiction treatment.
• Accreditation or registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., HPCSA).
• Experience providing individual and group therapy; strong therapeutic skills.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client provides vital support services for individuals struggling with substance abuse in the Upington, Northern Cape region. We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our dedicated team. This role involves providing individual and group counseling, developing treatment plans, and connecting clients with community resources to support their recovery journey. The position operates on a hybrid model, requiring both in-person client sessions in Upington and remote administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments to determine clients' needs and readiness for change regarding substance abuse.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based counseling techniques.
• Facilitate individual counseling sessions to address addiction, co-occurring disorders, and life challenges.
• Lead group therapy sessions focusing on relapse prevention, coping skills, and support networks.
• Provide crisis intervention and support during acute phases of addiction or withdrawal.
• Collaborate with families and significant others to foster a supportive recovery environment.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.

• Demonstrated experience in providing individual and group therapy.
