Placements24 is recruiting a highly skilled Subsea Pipeline Engineer for a contract role based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will contribute to the design, installation, and operation of subsea pipeline systems for offshore oil and gas projects.

The role encompasses detailed design, analysis, installation planning, and compliance with industry codes, working within a multidisciplinary team in a demanding marine environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or related engineering field.
• Minimum 10 years of subsea pipeline experience in offshore energy.
• Experience with pipeline design software such as SACS, OrcaFlex or ABAQUS.
• Willingness to travel offshore as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design calculations for subsea pipelines, including wall thickness, buoyancy, and stability.
• Develop specifications for pipeline materials, welding, coating, and inspection.
• Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress and fatigue analysis of pipeline systems.
• Prepare engineering drawings, P&IDs, and route selection studies.
• Develop installation procedures and strategies, considering vessel capabilities and environmental conditions.
• Oversee fabrication and construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
• Participate in the planning and execution of offshore pipeline laying and tie-in operations.
• Conduct integrity management assessments and develop maintenance and inspection plans.
• Collaborate with other disciplines, including subsea structures, umbilical, and SURF engineers.
• Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (e.g., DNV, API, ISO).

• Extensive knowledge of pipeline design software (e.g., SACS, OrcaFlex, ABAQUS).
• Strong understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices.
• Experience with pipeline installation methods, including trenching, backfilling, and bedding.
• Familiarity with subsea fabrication, NDT methods, and quality control procedures.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel offshore for project execution and oversight as required.
• Must hold valid work authorization for South Africa.
