Placements24 invites an experienced Subsea Pipeline Engineer to join our client’s engineering hub in Nelspruit, focusing on design, integrity management, and offshore installation oversight of subsea pipelines for oil and gas.

The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, applying codes (DNV, API, ISO), and occasional travel to project sites, with hybrid work options and opportunities to participate in international projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–8 years of subsea pipeline engineering experience in Oil & Gas.
• Strong knowledge of pipeline design codes and standards (DNV, API, ISO).
• Proficiency in pipeline analysis software for structural, fatigue, and thermal analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design calculations for subsea pipelines including route, wall thickness, buoyancy and trenching.
• Develop specifications and docs for materials, fabrication and installation.
• Conduct pipeline integrity assessments including corrosion analysis and fatigue life calculations.
• Provide engineering support during fabrication and offshore installation phases.
• Review and approve vendor documentation and contractor submittals.
• Collaborate with ROV, diving and vessel operators for safe installation.
• Use Orcaflex, SACS, Caesar II for design and analysis.
• Ensure designs comply with industry codes and regulatory requirements.

About the Role

Our client, a globally recognized leader in offshore energy infrastructure, requires an accomplished Subsea Pipeline Engineer to join their engineering hub in Nelspruit . This challenging role focuses on the design, integrity management, and installation oversight of subsea pipeline systems for oil and gas transportation. The successful candidate will apply advanced engineering principles to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of complex subsea infrastructure. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers, contributing to the successful execution of high-value projects. Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design calculations for subsea pipelines, including route selection, wall thickness, buoyancy, and trenching requirements.
• Develop technical specifications and documentation for pipeline materials, fabrication, and installation.
• Conduct pipeline integrity assessments, including corrosion analysis, fatigue life calculations, and risk-based inspections.
• Provide engineering support during the fabrication and offshore installation phases of subsea pipeline projects.
• Review and approve vendor documentation and contractor submittals related to pipeline systems.
• Collaborate with ROV, diving, and vessel operators to ensure safe and efficient pipeline installation operations.
• Utilize advanced pipeline design and analysis software (e.g., Orcaflex, SACS, Caesar II).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Naval Architecture. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 5-8 years of experience specifically in subsea pipeline engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of pipeline design codes and standards (DNV, API, ISO).
• Proficiency in pipeline analysis software for structural, fatigue, and thermal analysis.
• Experience with pipeline installation methods and associated challenges.
• Understanding of corrosion protection systems and integrity management principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites or fabrication yards.
