Placements24 in Paarl, Western Cape, is seeking a Subsea Control Systems Engineer to join our client’s team in the Oil & Gas subsea domain. You will design, develop, test, and support SCMs, HPUs, and topside panels, collaborating with project engineers and offshore crews to deliver reliable, high-performance subsea equipment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering and at least five years' experience in subsea control systems, with C/C++ and PLC

• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and electronic principles for subsea operations.
• Experience with C, C++, PLC programming.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify subsea control modules (SCMs), hydraulic power units (HPUs), and topside control panels.
• Develop and maintain system architecture, functional descriptions, and interface documents.
• Program and test subsea control software and firmware.
• Conduct system integration testing (SIT) and factory acceptance testing (FAT).
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to subsea control systems.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., API, ISO) and client specifications.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on electrical and electronic component selection.
• Provide technical support during offshore installation, commissioning, and operations.
• Contribute to risk assessments and design reviews for subsea projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, testing, or supporting subsea control systems, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and electronic principles relevant to subsea operations.
• Experience with programming languages commonly used in control systems (e.g., C, C++, PLC programming).
• Familiarity with subsea equipment such as BOPs, SCMs, and Xmas trees.
• Proficiency in using test equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
