Job summary

The University of the Free State (UFS) invites applications for the position of Coordinator: Social Support Office on the Bloemfontein campus. This permanent role supports student welfare, bereavement services, and cross-department collaboration within Student Affairs and ISSS.

The successful candidate will manage referrals, stock, reporting, and standby duties outside normal hours, contributing to enhanced student wellbeing and safety across campus.

Qualifications

• A relevant bachelor's degree or an advanced diploma/BTech degree/postgraduate certificate on NQF Level 7 in Humanities, Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Community Development, Student Affairs/Development, Public Administration or a related field.
• Minimum of one year's relevant working experience in student support, social support, case management, community services, Student Affairs or a related environment.
• A valid driver's license (attach a copy).

Responsibilities

• Provide bereavement support and coordinate with other Student Affairs departments.
• Serve as the primary contact for bereavement-related cases, ensuring timely and appropriate assistance.
• Perform standby duties and provide operational support outside normal working hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Manage and ensure stock of hygiene packs and campus resources.
• Prepare Bloemfontein Campus SSO reports and contribute to program evaluation.
