Placements24 is seeking a results-oriented Purchasing Manager in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, to lead the procurement function. This hybrid role combines on-site collaboration with remote flexibility to support production and operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of six years in purchasing, including three in a supervisory capacity. Strong negotiation, ERP, and leadership skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• At least 6 years' experience in purchasing or procurement, with 3+ years in management or supervision.
• Proven track record in strategic sourcing and cost reduction initiatives.
• Strong negotiation and contract management experience.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the purchasing department.
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to achieve cost savings and efficiency.
• Oversee sourcing, negotiation, and contracting for all procured goods and services.
• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers for reliable supply chains.
• Manage supplier performance and conduct regular reviews.
• Collaborate with production, logistics and finance to align purchasing with business needs.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and ethics.
• Monitor market trends and identify supply chain risks and opportunities.
• Manage inventory levels in conjunction with operational requirements.
• Lead and develop the purchasing team to foster a high-performance culture.
