Placements24 is partnering with a Mossel Bay-based organization to recruit a strategic Public Relations Manager. The role oversees all PR activities, shapes the public image, and manages media relations across local and national outlets.

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 6 years in PR, strong storytelling and pitching skills, and a proven ability to lead crisis communications. You will engage with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in public relations, with a strong emphasis on media relations.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing impactful PR campaigns and managing media crises.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional storytelling and pitching abilities.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining strong media relationships.
• Experience in strategic communications planning and execution.
• Proficiency with PR software, media monitoring tools, and social media platforms.
• Strong leadership qualities and the ability to manage projects efficiently.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
• Familiarity with the Mossel Bay and wider Western Cape business and media landscape is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive public relations strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and key media stakeholders.
• Write and distribute compelling press releases, media advisories, and other PR collateral.
• Proactively pitch story ideas to secure positive media coverage across diverse platforms.
• Manage media inquiries, respond to requests, and serve as a company spokesperson when required.
• Monitor media coverage, analyze trends, and report on PR campaign performance.
• Develop and execute crisis communication plans, acting as a key point of contact.
• Organize and manage press conferences, media events, and stakeholder briefings.
• Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, sales, operations) to ensure consistent messaging.
• Stay informed about industry developments and competitive PR activities.
