Dante Personnel Recruitment (Pty) Ltd in Boland / Winelands, SA – Western Cape seeks a Technical Advisor for the stone fruit sector to join the client’s team and deliver expert horticultural support to improve orchard productivity and fruit quality.

Requirements include a BSc in Agriculture or Horticulture (MSc preferred), willingness to travel to production regions, a valid driver’s licence, and strong communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Agriculture, Horticulture or related agricultural field.
• Master’s degree (MSc) in a relevant field will be considered an advantage.
• Demonstrated technical experience and practical knowledge within the stone fruit production industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical information into practical production solutions.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly to various production regions and operational sites.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical and horticultural support to stone fruit production operations, with a focus on improving productivity, quality and overall orchard performance.
• Develop, coordinate and implement technical programmes, field trials and continuous improvement projects across production units.
• Evaluate and provide recommendations regarding new orchard developments, including cultivar selection, rootstock choices, planting systems and modern production practices.
• Assess and monitor fruit quality throughout the complete supply chain, from orchard production through packing, storage and export.
• Review and interpret production, quality and post-harvest data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions.
• Collaborate with breeding programmes, cultivar developers and industry specialists to support the evaluation and development of new cultivars and products.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with production teams, customers, technical specialists and relevant industry stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and training to production personnel to promote the consistent application of best practices.
• Stay informed of developments, technologies, research and industry trends relevant to stone fruit production.
• Undertake any additional duties and responsibilities reasonably associated with the position

Education
