Job summary

EdUpStairs in Cape Town seeks a junior management accountant to manage BAS, PERSAL and LOGIS processing, verify payments, and capture data accurately. The role requires 1 year of relevant experience and a Grade 12 with a related diploma.

You will assist in budgeting, journals, reconciliations, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with Public Service Acts and Treasury regulations. A valid driver’s licence is preferred.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and a National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting / Financial Management / Commerce / Economics / BCom Accounting or related equivalent qualifications.
• 1 year relevant experience in management accounting environment.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Knowledge of Public Service Act, Public Finance Management Act and related regulations.
• Familiarity with PERSAL, BAS and LOGIS.

Responsibilities

• Process BAS, PERSAL and LOGIS transactions.
• Check, verify payment and capture on BAS.
• Approve PERSAL transactions.
• Maintain budget (shifting of funds).
• Prepare, capture or approve journals.
• Reconcile travel agency accounts and key accounts.

Duties

• Process BAS, PERSAL and LOGIS transactions.
• Check, verify payment and capture on BAS.
• Approve PERSAL transactions.
• Maintain budget (shifting of funds).
• Compile, capture, or approve journals.
• Reconcile travel agency account.
• Ascertain invoices received.
• Reconcile/analyse key accounts.
• Accumulate synopsis report (age analysis).
• Compile financial reports.
• Compile and submit inputs and Port Folio of Evidence (POEs) on financial reports (accruals and payables reports).
• Provide input on invoices paid within 30 days.
• Compile Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), Estimates of National Expenditure (ENE), Adjusted Estimates of National Expenditure (AENE)
• inputs.
• Process petty cash and revenue collections.
• Check and sign petty cash replenishment and balance cash on hand.
• Facilitate petty cash count and report.
• Perform daily deposit confirmations.
