About the Role

Our client, a highly reputable company specializing in the safe and secure transport of oversized and sensitive industrial materials, requires a skilled and experienced Specialized Materials Transport Driver for operations within the Northern Cape , based in Kimberley . This demanding role involves operating specialized heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to transport items such as construction machinery, large industrial components, and valuable mining equipment. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional driving skills, a strong understanding of load securing, and an unwavering commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. You will be entrusted with critical shipments across challenging terrains, representing a company known for its reliability and expertise in the Kimberley area and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate specialized heavy haulage vehicles (e.g., lowbeds, extendable trailers) safely and efficiently.
• Ensure proper loading, securing, and transportation of oversized, overweight, or otherwise sensitive materials.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
• Plan and execute routes in coordination with logistics personnel, considering road conditions, permits, and load restrictions.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, regulations, and company safety protocols for specialized transport.
• Maintain accurate logs, delivery documentation, and fuel records.
• Provide excellent customer service and clear communication during pickups and deliveries.
• Respond to any vehicle or cargo-related issues professionally and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with all permits and escort requirements for oversized loads.
• Participate in ongoing training to maintain and enhance specialized driving skills and safety awareness.

Requirements

• A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) and Code 14 driver's license.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience driving heavy-duty specialized transport vehicles.
• Proven experience with lowbed, flatbed, or other heavy haulage trailers.
• Demonstrated expertise in load securing techniques for large and awkward items.
• Knowledge of route planning and navigating with oversized loads.
• Excellent driving record and a strong commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing conditions in the Northern Cape .
• Good physical condition for managing load securing and occasional physical tasks.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
