Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor IEPs for students with special needs.
• Coordinate with teachers to apply differentiation and support strategies.
• Liaise with parents/guardians to discuss progress and needs.
• Collaborate with external specialists to provide comprehensive support.
• Maintain records of assessments, progress and interventions.
• Advocate for SEN needs within the school.

About the Role

Our client, a highly respected educational institution located in Rustenburg, North West, ZA , is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Needs (SEN) Coordinator. This crucial role involves overseeing the provision of support for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate resources and tailored learning plans to thrive academically and socially. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external specialists, and school administration to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This position requires a compassionate individual with a deep understanding of diverse learning requirements and a passion for advocating for student well-being and success within the Rustenburg community.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Coordinate with teachers to ensure effective differentiation and support strategies are applied in classrooms.
• Liaise with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, needs, and strategies for support.
• Collaborate with external specialists, therapists, and agencies to provide comprehensive support.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student assessments, progress, and interventions.
• Advocate for the needs of students with special educational requirements within the school.
• Organize and deliver training to staff on SEN best practices and relevant legislation.
• Monitor the effectiveness of SEN provision and recommend improvements.
• Contribute to the development and review of school policies related to inclusion and special education.

Requirements

• A relevant degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in a SEN coordination or similar leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of national SEN frameworks and legislation.
• Strong understanding of various learning difficulties and disabilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external stakeholders.
• Experience in assessment and evidence-based intervention strategies.
• Residency or willingness to relocate to the **Rustenburg, North West, ZA** area is required.
