Job summary

NTU International, Pretoria, is seeking a Non-Key Expert – Space Applications Expert, Satellite Navigation & Connectivity to support activities related to satellite navigation, GNSS and augmentation systems and the development and uptake of space-based applications across Africa.

The role involves contributing to the AESPP Boost programme, leveraging Galileo/EGNOS knowledge where applicable, and collaborating with partners to strengthen Africa-EU space cooperation and connectivity initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering, telecommunications, aeronautics, geomatics or related field.
• Excellent command of English.
• French and/or Portuguese language skills are an asset.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in satellite navigation, telecommunications, satellite connectivity and/or related applications.
• Minimum 4 years of experience working on satellite-navigation or connectivity applications (GNSS, SBAS, aviation, maritime, or satellite broadband).

Responsibilities

• Support activities related to satellite navigation, GNSS augmentation systems and satellite connectivity.
• Contribute to development and uptake of space-based applications across Africa.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure alignment with Africa-EU space partnership objectives.

Non-Key Expert – Space Applications Expert, Satellite Navigation & Connectivity

NTU International is preparing a proposal for the project “Support to the Africa-EU Space Partnership Programme – AESPP Boost.”

The programme aims to strengthen cooperation between Africa and the European Union in the space sector, supporting policy dialogue, institutional partnerships, knowledge exchange, innovation, private sector engagement and investment, while contributing to stronger and more sustainable African space ecosystems.

In this context, we are seeking a highly qualified Non-Key Expert – Space Applications Expert, Satellite Navigation & Connectivity to support activities related to satellite navigation, GNSS and augmentation systems, satellite connectivity and the development and uptake of space-based applications across Africa.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• University degree at Master’s level in engineering, telecommunications, aeronautics, geomatics, or a related field.
• Excellent command of English.
• Working knowledge of French and/or Portuguese will be considered an asset.

Minimum General Professional Experience:

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in satellite navigation, telecommunications, satellite connectivity and/or related applications.

Minimum Specific Professional Experience

• At least 4 years of professional experience working on satellite-navigation or connectivity applications, including GNSS and SBAS, aviation or maritime applications and/or satellite broadband.
• Working knowledge of Galileo and EGNOS, IRIS² and relevant African navigation and augmentation initiatives is an asset.
