Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Development Studies, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
• Master's degree or professional accreditation (e.g., PMP, SACPCMP) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with at least 4 years in urban development, community projects, or public infrastructure.
• Experience managing projects with budgets typically ranging from R15 million to R70 million.
• Strong understanding of urban planning principles, community development processes, and public sector project execution.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills with diverse community groups.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera); GIS/spatial planning is a plus.
• Willingness to work extensively within the Soweto community and surrounding areas.
• Must have legal authorization to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, implementation, and delivery of urban redevelopment projects focusing on infrastructure, public amenities, and community facilities.
• Develop comprehensive project plans with scope, objectives, deliverables, budgets, and timelines in consultation with stakeholders.
• Manage project budgets, ensuring financial stewardship, cost control, and timely disbursement of funds.
• Coordinate with municipal departments, community leaders, residents' associations, contractors, and consultants.
• Ensure adherence to municipal bylaws, building regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
• Oversee construction and implementation phases, ensuring quality, schedules, and site management.
• Facilitate community engagement processes, incorporating feedback into designs and execution.
• Prepare detailed project reports with progress updates, finances, risk assessments, and impact evaluations.
• Identify and mitigate project risks related to community dynamics, funding, or technical aspects.
