Job summary

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join a luxury lodge in Ceres, Western Cape. This live-in role offers an opportunity to work alongside the Head Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences in a high-end hospitality setting.

Key responsibilities include assisting with all kitchen operations, supervising staff, contributing to seasonal menu planning, managing stock and food costs, and ensuring strict hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Formal culinary qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role within luxury hospitality.
• Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
• Creative and detail-oriented with a passion for high-quality cuisine.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain professional standards.
• Willingness to live and work in a remote lodge environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in managing all kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, presentation, and consistency
• Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and professional development
• Contribute to menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal and locally sourced ingredients
• Monitor inventory, manage stock, and control food costs
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations within the kitchen
• Support the Head Chef in maintaining organisation, efficiency, and high standards of service
• Assist with food preparation for a la carte, buffet, and special events as required
