Job summary

Mondi plc is seeking an experienced User Application Support specialist in Durban to serve as the first point of contact for M-Files queries and issues. The role involves managing access, metadata, and vault configurations, while coordinating with business units to translate needs into technical blueprints.

You will lead testing for new applications and upgrades, conduct training sessions, and partner with Mondi IT teams on global projects. Strong communication and independent work are essential.

Qualifications

• BTech or Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in application system design.
• Proficient in business process modelling.
• 2+ years of experience with M-Files preferred.
• Ability to decompose complex business processes into structured metadata and automated workflows.
• Strong interpersonal skills to translate between non-technical business users and technical vendor engineers.
• Ability to work independently.

Job description

Your mission:

User Application Support:

• Act as the first point of contact for M-Files user queries and technical issues


• Manage user access, metadata structures, and vault configurations


• Facilitate workshops and collaborate with business units to translate operational needs into technical blueprints


• Perform and oversee the end-to-end testing of new applications or system enhancements


• Perform full system testing after upgrades


• Facilitate and arrange on-going training sessions, quarterly M-Files updates and module owner (super user) user meetings


• Manage the relationship with the supporting M-Files vendor to ensure system alignment with strategic goals


• Work closely with other IT teams within IT


• Treats all data in any format as classified and confidential


• Work closely with Mondi Group on global projects

Requirements Gathering & Blueprinting:

• Facilitate workshops to gather user input and translate business needs into technical blueprints and process flow diagrams for M-Files workflows


• Work closely with the vendor to ensure Technical Design document is aligned to Mondi requirement


• Advise business users on M-Files best practices (e.g. metadata-driven architecture vs. traditional folders)

Systems Testing & QA:

• Create and execute test scripts, including integration, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)


• Validate system updates and new feature rollouts before production deployment


• Perform functional, integration, and regression testing before live rollout


• Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by guiding end-users through new features and validating that business expectations are met

Vendor & Stakeholder Liaison:

• Manage the interface between the business and the M-Files supporting vendor


• Act as the lead point of contact for the M-Files vendor regarding complex technical issues and upgrades


• Co‑ordinate scheduled system maintenance or upgrades


• Ensure vendor deliverables align with internal business requirements and project timelines


• Arrange weekly meetings to discuss system issues, outstanding calls, project updates and planning of future activities


• Liaise with the vendor to stay informed on the M-Files product roadmap and new AI-driven capabilities

Your profile:

• BTech or Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field


• 5+ years of experience in application system design


• Must be proficient in business process modelling


• 2+ years of experience with M-Files will be advantageous


• Ability to decompose complex business processes into structured metadata and automated workflows


• Strong interpersonal skills to \"translate\" between non-technical business users and technical vendor software engineers


• Must be able to work independently
