Job summary

LexisNexis Legal & Professional in Durban, South Africa, is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer to build AI-assisted web applications for regulators and life sciences clients. Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficient in C#, .NET, REST APIs, Angular, and TypeScript.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server; writing queries and performance considerations.
• Familiar with automated testing, Git, code reviews, and iterative delivery.
• Experience with AI coding tools, or willingness to adopt them thoughtfully.
• Ability to own moderately complex tasks, communicate progress and trade-offs, and seek input when a decision has wider architectural or customer impact.
• Care for security, data privacy, reliability, and clear documentation.
• Experience with Azure services, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, or life sciences/regulatory environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain C#/.NET APIs, microservices, background processes, and Angular user interfaces.
• Modernize legacy applications through well-scoped changes that improve maintainability and user experience.
• Design and work with Microsoft SQL Server data models, queries, and integrations.
• Use AI development tools to plan, implement, test, debug, refactor, and document work, reviewing AI output before release.
• Write automated tests and apply test-driven development where it helps clarify behaviour and reduce risk.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and shared design decisions.
• Work with Azure services, CI/CD pipelines, logging, and monitoring to deliver and support production software.
• Collaborate with product, QA, architecture, security, and operations teams from requirements through release.
