Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Software Engineer role based in the City of Johannesburg. The Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software solutions that support RecruitmentUber’s technology-driven recruitment platform. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean and efficient code, implementing back-end services and APIs, integrating third-party tools, and optimizing system performance. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, refine technical specifications, and deliver secure, reliable features. The Software Engineer will also participate in code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices and architecture.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Proficiency in Back-End Web Development, including building and maintaining APIs, working with databases, and implementing server-side logic.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their application in production systems.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to write maintainable, well-documented code and perform effective debugging and testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
• Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, or containerization (e.g., AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes) is an advantage.
