Job summary

Lusaphops is seeking an experienced SMPP Supervisor for a large-scale mining project in Richards Bay. The role provides client-side oversight of structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping, and platework by the EPC Contractor, focusing on HSE, quality, and schedule conformity.

The candidate will inspect and monitor activities, ensure compliance with project requirements, drawings, and codes, and coordinate with Construction, Quality, Engineering, and HSE teams.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification, diploma, or engineering qualification suitable to SMPP.
• Minimum 10 years' construction experience in mining or heavy industries.
• Experience in structural steelwork erection and piping/platework installation.
• Familiar with drawings, specifications, ITPs, welding, and inspection records.
• Richards Bay area project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be a visible HSE leader and meet the HSESC Charter commitments.
• Promote HSE standards throughout SMPP work areas and teams.
• Monitor EPC contractor/subcontractors for safety document compliance.
• Participate in pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and coordination.
• Inspect foundations, steel erection, equipment installation, and piping work.
• Oversee progress, coordination meetings, and interface with project teams.
