Job summary

Advius in Germiston, South Africa is seeking a skilled Welder to join our workshop team. You will weld fabricated components according to job cards and drawings, selecting appropriate processes to ensure fit and finish meet quality standards.

You will perform equipment maintenance, inspect welds for defects, record materials used, and uphold health, safety, and housekeeping standards in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Qualifications

• South African nationals preferred.
• 2–3 years welding experience in fabrication/workshop environment.
• Competent in welding processes required for the role.
• Able to read and work from engineering drawings, job cards and specifications.
• Able to inspect welds for defects and dimensional accuracy.
• Sound knowledge of welding safety, PPE and fire prevention practices.

Responsibilities

• Weld fabricated components according to the job card, drawing and specification.
• Select the correct welding process, consumables and settings for the material and joint type.
• Check fit-up, alignment and preparation before welding, and query discrepancies with the Workshop Manager.
• Inspect completed welds for penetration, finish and dimensional accuracy, and grind and clean welds to the required finish.
• Carry out start-up, shut-down and daily checks on welding equipment, torches, gauges and tooling.
• Maintain, clean and degrease welding equipment and tooling according to the maintenance procedure.
• Monitor consumable stock and request reorders as needed.
• Record jobs completed and material used, and sign off completed job cards.
• Work according to safety procedures and attend toolbox talks.
