Job summary

Exxaro Resources is seeking a dedicated Site Supervisor for the Grootegeluk Coal team in Lephalale, Limpopo. You will lead contractor construction supervisors and multi-disciplinary teams to meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets on a permanent basis.

You will oversee contractor appointments, enforce safety standards, conduct inspections and audits, and provide timely progress updates while promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant construction and commercial exposure.
• Proven leadership to manage contractor supervisors and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong SHEC policy understanding and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manage Contractor Construction Supervisors and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective construction execution according to the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and relevant procedures.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to compile and define the Scope of Work and ensure all contractor appointments comply with legal requirements.
• Monitor and measure project progress to guarantee alignment with time, cost, quality, and scope targets, providing timely and accurate feedback to stakeholders.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce safe operational standards while promoting a culture of safety and compliance with SHEC policies.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, monthly audits for contractors, and ensure the proper use of PPE and safe work environments.
• Lead investigations into incidents and implement remedial actions and risk management.
• Coordinate relocation of site resources and manage deliveries of equipment to ensure efficient site operations.
• Promote teamwork by supporting and managing employee and contractor performance and fostering positive working relationships.
• Ensure all legal appointments and fitness certificates are in place for contractors and own team, maintaining governance and project management compliance.

• Ensure all legal appointments and fitness certificates are in place for contractors and own team, maintaining compliance with governance and project management standards.

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma in Engineering (Essential/Minimum requirement)
• Relevant Trade Artisan Qualification with MQA/QCTO Accreditation (Essential/Minimum)
• Certificate in First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)
• Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) in a relevant field (Recommended/Desirable)
• Minimum of 5 years relevant construction and commercial exposure, preferably in a project size similar to the business unit's scope (Essential/Minimum requirement)
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Proven leadership skills with ability to manage contractor construction supervisors and multi-disciplinary teams effectively
• Strong understanding and commitment to safety, health, environment, and community (SHEC) policies and procedures
• Demonstrated capability in project execution, risk management, and compliance with legal and procedural requirements within a construction environment
