Job summary

Zutari is seeking a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to support mining and engineering projects across Africa. You will compile tender documentation, measure and prepare bills of quantities, and manage contract negotiations and variations.

The role requires on-site experience and willingness to travel, with a strong emphasis on client engagement and problem solving. The successful candidate will work across multiple projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to robust commercial processes on site

Qualifications

• 4+ years in mining or engineering environments with on-site exposure.
• Experience in compilation and management of standard contracts in construction/engineering, including FIDIC.
• Strong client engagement and problem-solving capabilities.
• Willingness to travel and work on project sites.

Responsibilities

• Compile tender documentation and settle final accounts.
• Carry out estimating functions for multidisciplinary projects.
• Measure and compile bills of quantities for tendering.
• Negotiate contracts and manage variations on site.
• Lead on-site and off-site re-measurement and assessments.

Role responsibilities

• Compilation of tender documentation
• Prepare and settle final accounts.
• Carry out estimating function in multi-disciplinary engineering & built environment projects.
• Measuring and compiling of bills of quantities for tender purposes.
• Understanding and experience in compilation and management of standard construction & engineering contracts
• Compilation and negotiation of contracts
• Perform on/off site re-measurement, assessments and agree variations.
• Manage a number of projects and different team members concurrently.
• Undertaking client facing interactions.
• 4 years plus experience in the mining and engineering space with more than 1 year previous on-site experience.
• Experience on an engineering construction site
• An above average understanding of contract management and knowledge of various standard forms of contract in construction & engineering including FIDIC at a minimum
• Willing to work on project sites
• Strong problem-solving skills including excellent and proven client engagement ability
• Strong analytical skills
• Experience with contractual claims
• Mentoring and development of young talent
• Previous experience working in WinQS and DimX
• Ability to Travel
