Job summary

Pick n Pay in South Africa is seeking a store-focused team member with a customer-first mindset and strong English communication. You will work across shifts to maintain hygiene, stock, and merchandising standards while delivering friendly service to shoppers.

The role requires Grade 12, 2–3 years retail exposure is a plus, and you must pass assessments and interviews. Flexibility to transfer between stores is expected, along with a valid SA ID.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent and fitness for the job.
• 2–3 years retail experience is advantageous.

• Pass required assessments and competency interviews.
• Willing to transfer between stores and pass background checks.
• Must have a valid South African ID.

Responsibilities

• Physically demanding tasks as part of daily store operations.
• Maintain hygiene, housekeeping and safe working standards.
• Ensure security procedures are followed.
• Adhere to merchandising and display standards.
• Stock rotation, quality checks and damage control.
• Assist customers, listen to requests and provide product guidance.
• Prevent wastage, shrinkage and pricing errors.

Job description

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12

2- 3 years retail experience an added advantage

Ability to communicate in English

Must be able to pass given assessments at the required level

Must be flexible and willing to be transferred between stores

Must be willing to give authorization for a full credit and criminal check

Must have a valid South African ID (attach copy to application)

Key Responsibilities:

Physically demanding

Ensure that hygiene, housekeeping and safe working standards are maintained (Floor and back‑up)

Ensure that security procedures are adhered to.

Ensure that merchandise/display standards are adhered to.

Conduct regular quality checks, ensure that stock is rotated. Damaged/expired stock is removed.

Prevent wastage/shrinkage/damages

Check correct pricing e.g. labels

Approach and advise customers on the product, listen to customers’ requests, provide the required product or services and handle customers in a courteous and business‑like manner.
