Job summary

Pick n Pay is hiring at least one store associate to ensure compliance with General Merchandise standards and to meet targets and deadlines across stores. The role requires a Grade 12, 2-3 years retail exposure, and the ability to pass assessments and competency interviews.

The ideal candidate will be customer-minded, possess excellent communication skills, and be willing to work shifts to support operations and transfers between stores. A SA ID and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• 2-3 years retail experience is an added advantage.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Must be able to pass given assessments at the required level.
• Must be successful in competency based interviews.
• Must be flexible and willing to be transferred between stores.
• Must be willing to authorize for a full credit and criminal check.
• Must have a valid South African ID (attach copy to application).

Responsibilities

• Physically demanding work environment.
• Ensure hygiene, housekeeping and safe working standards are maintained (Floor and back-up).
• Ensure that security procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure that merchandise/display standards are adhered to.
• Conduct regular quality checks, ensure stock is rotated; damaged/expired stock is removed.
• Prevent wastage/shrinkage/damages.
• Check correct pricing (e.g. labels).
• Approach and advise customers on products, listen to requests, provide the required product or services and handle customers in a courteous, business-like manner.
