Job summary

Rosstone seeks a proactive Safety, Health & Environmental Officer to support project teams across multiple industrial sites. You will promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation to maintain a safe and environmentally responsible work environment.

You will lead incident investigations, manage contractor safety, and contribute to environmental monitoring programs. Strong communication and coaching across all levels are essential for success.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Safety Management or relevant qualification (SAMTRAC advantageous).
• In-depth knowledge of industrial safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• 2–3 years’ experience in a Safety Officer or similar role.
• Experience within an industrial, manufacturing, or FMCG environment.
• Strong presentation, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coach, guide, and train teams on safety standards and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable Occupational Health & Safety legislation and site safety standards.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of Safety, Health & Environmental systems and procedures.
• Maintain a safe working environment across project sites.
• Identify workplace hazards and ensure risks are communicated effectively to employees and contractors.
• Capture and manage contractor man-hours and compile required safety reports.
• Conduct incident investigations with line management, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
• Maintain project safety boards and relevant site documentation.
• Support the safe execution of capital projects and safe work practices on site.
• Assist with environmental compliance initiatives and monitoring programmes.
• Review and audit contractor risk assessments and method statements before permits to work are issued.
• Facilitate contractor safety meetings and daily site safety briefings.
• Work overtime and weekends when required to support project activities.
