Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months experience in a customer-facing role.
• Experience in front desk operations, hospitality, retail, fitness or member service.
• Proven ability to resolve customer queries and complaints.
• Experience with digital platforms and customer engagement systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good understanding of health club operations and customer experience delivery.

Responsibilities

• Conducting Front of House Duties: control access, welcome members, provide information, ensure smooth member journey.
• Engaging with Members: deliver excellent service, build relationships, promote digital engagement and online fitness offerings.
• Delivering the Member Floor Experience: promote safe practices, ensure rules and safety standards, keep spaces clean and welcoming.

Job Overview

Virgin Active South Africa (Pty) Ltd is seeking a passionate and customer-focused Service Ambassador to join its dynamic team in Sandton. This role is ideal for professionals with strong customer service, member engagement, front desk operations, fitness club support, wellness knowledge, and relationship-building skills.

The successful candidate will play a key role in creating exceptional member experiences across reception, exercise floors, fitness studios, swimming facilities, and lounge areas while supporting member retention, digital engagement, health club operations, and customer satisfaction.

Key Job Responsibilities (JD)

1. Conducting Front of House Duties
   • Control and manage access into the facility
   • Welcome members, visitors, and prospective clients professionally
   • Provide information to members and staff regarding club services and offerings
   • Ensure a smooth member journey from entry to exit
   • Follow company operational standards, administrative procedures, and club policies
   • Assist with reception-related tasks and front desk administration
2. Engaging with Members
   • Deliver excellent customer service and member experiences
   • Build strong member relationships to support member retention
   • Promote digital engagement through fitness and wellness platforms
   • Introduce members to personalised online fitness and exercise offerings
   • Support customer satisfaction targets including NPS and member sentiment goals
   • Resolve member concerns, complaints, and service-related issues effectively
   • Encourage participation in fitness initiatives, club events, and wellness activities
3. Delivering the Member Floor Experience
   • Promote safe exercise and healthy fitness practices
   • Ensure adherence to club rules, safety standards, and operational guidelines
   • Monitor member compliance with facility protocols
   • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of gym floors, studios, and wellness spaces
   • Support a safe and welcoming club environment
4. Participating in Training & Development
   • Attend ongoing training programs and self-development sessions
   • Stay updated on club offerings, wellness trends, and customer experience standards
   • Improve knowledge of digital fitness tools and online engagement platforms

Education Requirements

• Grade 12 Senior Certificate or NQF Level 4 equivalent
• Successful completion of Reception Academy
• A valid First Aid Level 1 Certificate is advantageous
• Additional training in customer service, hospitality, fitness, wellness, or health club management will be beneficial

Experience Requirements
