Job summary

J2E Placements is hiring a Workshop Foreman for a large Automotive Service Centre in Centurion. The role demands a qualified Petrol or Diesel Technician with Red Seal and at least 5 years in repairs and diagnostics, plus prior supervisory experience.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily workshop operations, supervising technicians, diagnosing faults, preparing estimates, coordinating parts, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Valid driver’s licence required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Qualified Petrol or Diesel Technician with Trade Test or Red Seal.
• At least 5 years of hands-on automotive repair and diagnostics.
• Previous workshop supervisory or management experience.
• Strong diagnostics and fault-finding skills.
• Experience with diagnostic scanners and workshop equipment.
• Computer literacy and experience with workshop management systems.
• Valid driver's licence and own transport.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the automotive workshop.
• Supervise and allocate work to technicians and staff.
• Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults accurately.
• Review job cards; ensure repairs are completed on time.
• Monitor productivity and turnaround times.
• Conduct final inspections and quality checks.
• Provide technical guidance and training to staff.
• Prepare repair estimates and assist with quotations.
• Liaise with customers regarding diagnostics, repairs and costs.
• Manage parts requirements and coordinate with suppliers.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained.
• Handle customer queries and warranty repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and completed work.
• Enforce health, safety and housekeeping standards.
• Control costs and help achieve workshop targets.
