Placements24 is seeking a Senior Well Operations Engineer for a key role based in Klerksdorp, South Africa. The position focuses on safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling, completions, and interventions within the Oil & Gas sector.

The candidate will oversee operational planning, risk management, and execution of complex well programs, leading technical teams and ensuring regulatory and HSEQ compliance in the North West province.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 9 years of hands-on well operations experience.
• Expertise in drilling, completions, well control, and intervention techniques.

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Well Operations Engineer to join their team in Klerksdorp . This role is central to the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of all well operations, including drilling, completions, and interventions, within the Oil & Gas sector. You will oversee operational planning, risk management, and the execution of complex well programs, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in well construction and intervention techniques, providing leadership and technical expertise to operational teams in the North West province.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute drilling, completion, and workover operations according to established procedures.
• Develop detailed well programs, risk assessments, and contingency plans for well operations.
• Supervise rig site activities and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards.
• Manage operational budgets and track costs, identifying and implementing cost-saving measures.Provide technical support and mentorship to field personnel and junior engineers during well operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in well operations engineering , including hands-on experience in planning and execution.
• Demonstrated expertise in drilling, completions, well control, and intervention techniques.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and multi-disciplinary teams in high-pressure environments.
• Strong understanding of HSEQ regulations and best practices within the Oil & Gas industry.
