Placements24 in Vereeniging is seeking a Senior VFX Artist & Technical Director to elevate real-time visuals for our AAA-inspired interactive projects. You will design, implement, and optimize cinematic VFX, ensuring performance across target hardware.

You will lead a small team, mentor junior artists, collaborate with art directors and engineers, and push the tech frontier with Maya, Houdini, Unreal Engine/Unity, and the Substance suite.

Formación

• 6+ years in VFX artistry and technical direction for games or real-time sims.
• Expertise in explosions, magic, fire, smoke, and atmospheric effects.
• Proficiency in Maya, 3ds Max, Houdini, Substance.
• Knowledge of Unreal Engine or Unity; shader creation & particle editors.
• Strong rendering knowledge, optimization, and profiling.
• Excellent problem-solving and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Strong portfolio showcasing real-time VFX talent.
• Excellent communication and teamwork; ability to explain technical concepts.
• Bachelor's degree in CG, Fine Arts, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsabilidades

• Conceptualize and implement real-time VFX for characters, environments, and gameplay events.
• Collaborate with art directors, designers, and engineers to align VFX with vision and tech.
• Develop and optimize particle systems, shaders, and post-processing for AAA quality.
• Troubleshoot VFX implementation and performance issues in the game engine.
• Create and manage a library of reusable VFX assets and tools.
• Stay current with industry-leading VFX techniques and engine capabilities.
• Mentor junior VFX artists on artistic and technical challenges.
• Contribute to the VFX pipeline development for creation and integration.
• Ensure VFX are performant across target hardware.
