Job summary

Placements24 in Rustenburg, South Africa is seeking a Senior VFX Artist & Compositor to lead high-end visual effects, blending live-action plates with CGI to achieve photoreal results and fit the project’s creative vision.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of VFX/Compositing experience, expert skills in Nuke, After Effects or Fusion, and a strong eye for color, lighting, and camera work; you’ll mentor juniors and optimize workflows under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Digital Art, Film or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong visual storytelling with a compelling compositing portfolio.
• 5-7 years of professional VFX/Compositor experience, preferably in Arts & Entertainment.
• Expert proficiency in Nuke, After Effects or Fusion.
• Solid understanding of 3D, color theory, lighting and camera work.
• Experience with keying, rotoscoping, tracking, and matte painting integration.
• Python scripting is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience as a VFX Artist or Compositor, preferably within the Arts & Entertainment industry.
• Expert proficiency in industry-standard compositing software such as Nuke, After Effects, or Fusion.
• Strong understanding of 3D principles, color theory, lighting, and camera work.
• Experience with various compositing techniques including keying, rotoscoping, tracking, and matte painting integration.
